The Turtle Tots baby swimming programme begins from birth, or as soon as you are ready to bring your baby into the pool, with specialised and progressive lessons, aimed at teaching your child water confidence, key life-saving skills, and building the first steps towards swimming unaided, and a lifelong love of the water.

Every Turtle Tots teacher is as qualified as they possibly can be in terms of teaching swimming, and they are trained to understand how babies communicate in the pre-verbal period, their early brain development, the importance of early attachment and how best to support babies’ learning in this critical early part of life.

Our classes focus on reading each baby’s cues to ensure that babies are active and willing participants in everything that we do in the pool together. This isn’t difficult at all as babies are hard-wired to learn, and the way they learn best is by observation and imitation – put simply watching other humans and trying to copy them!

Of course, underwater swimming is an important part of what we do, but most what happens in our classes takes place above the water, with loads of emphasis on fun! We use lots of songs and games to ensure your little one loves the time you spend together in the pool.

And that’s not all, Turtle Tots classes have many other benefits too, the classes will help your child to develop physically, socially, emotionally, intellectually and communicatively.

The next term will start w/c 16th September and and ends w/c 2nd December

Wondering more about the person who is running Turtle Tots classes here? Here’s a bit about Fiona.

“As a child you could either find me on the stage or in a pool. I learnt to swim at a young age and have always enjoyed being in water. I carried my love for singing onto University where I studies for a degree in classical singing. After university I worked in events and conference management but once my children came along it was soon clear that my future lay outside of that field of work.

I first experienced Turtle Tots as a mum three years ago with my daughter, and was hooked from the first lesson. I was amazed by the difference the classes made to my daughter’s water confidence and the fantastic bonding experience it provided – I was hooked from the start and I knew I wanted to do this as a career.

Following the birth of my son a year later, I decided to train and become a specialist Turtle Tots swimming teacher. Since then I have been teaching with Turtle Tots in Cumbria, and I am now excited to be launching my own swim classes in North Lancashire – starting in Preston in May, and Lancaster and Morecambe in June. New classes are also set to launch in other pool locations later in the year.

The idea of owning and running my own Turtle Tots business is something that has always appealed to me, and when the opportunity arose in Lancashire – an area where my parents are from and where I spent most of my childhood weekends and holidays – it seemed like the perfect opportunity and I can’t wait to get started. “
