What we do

At Morecambe Bay Slings, we are passionate about helping parents to use slings safely and comfortably. Finding what works for each person is very personal, and often isn’t what they expected.  Our library sessions work on a drop-in basis. Just turn up and one of our trained supporters will help you out with either your sling, or one of ours. We’ll teach you how to use the carrier, practising with weighted dolls before trying with a real baby. We’re also very good at tweaking your carry, showing you little things to do to make it much more comfortable.

Sling hire prices range from £1-£4 per week. (And a free 4 week hire of a stretchy wrap available for babies 6 weeks and under). Standard hire periods are 4 weeks and you can swap slings mid-hire..

We are run by volunteers and provide most of our time during sling library sessions for free (however, if you’re not a member and want help with your own sling, we charge just £3 for that as a contribution towards our running costs). If you’d like more in-depth help than a library session provides, then a 1:1 consultations can be booked for a fee (see website) We have a wide range of slings available to hire (over 200 in stock), so whether you’re after buckles, tie-on carriers, woven wraps or ring slings, we’ll have something to suit.

Hiring

We know that a lot of people prefer to keep hiring slings, paying a small amount each month, and trying different things out, changing preferences as their babies grow, so we have membership available (£25pa) which keeps the monthly hire price low (£4 for a newborn sling, or £8 for any of our other carriers), or if you think you might only hire a couple of things before buying, then you can do that too, by hiring as a non-member and leaving a deposit.

Come along to a Morecambe Bay Slings library session, meet other parents, have a chat, see what type of sling you might like, and leave confident that you know how to use it.  If you change your mind about what sling you hired, you can come and swap it at any library session.
