Many new mums find breastfeeding support groups invaluable.  The mixture of getting help from a trained supporter and meeting other mums who are going through the same things as you, or who are a little further on in their journey can make a real difference in how long you continue to breastfeed for.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, FAB has stopped running all groups but the phone line for support is still active, and at present peer supporters are still doing home visits for parents who need support. Please get in touch with them and don’t suffer alone.

Support in North Lancashire

In addition to training supporters to be at the groups below, Families and Babies (F.A.B.) run a breastfeeding helpline: 01254 772929 which is open 7 days of the week 9.30am – 2.30pm. (with a voicemail facility outside of these hours) and F.A.B. can also provide home visits to help you.

Support in South Cumbria

South Cumbria Breastfeeding Support aims for all mums to have the breastfeeding experience that they want to have. They run 3, free, weekly drop-in groups for any mum-to-be, or mums who are breastfeeding or expressing to any degree. These groups provide a place for breastfeeding mums to get together and support each other. Tea and friendly faces guaranteed. A dual-qualified Lactation Consultant and Breastfeeding Counsellor is available at every session for anyone who needs support with a breastfeeding-related challenge.
